Role synopsis
Procurement plays a critical role in helping the Downstream Segment grow organically through assurance of supply and delivering a competitive cost framework, as an embedded business process at the very core of value creation. This post will play a critical and complementary role in helping to leverage the capabilities of Manufacturing Procurement’s market sector team to successfully deliver BP Group’s plans.

Key accountabilities

•Support the development, proposal, implementation and ongoing performance review of purchasing and risk management strategies for the Group’s gas and power needs

•Review and monitor market reports / commentary on a daily basis and identify changes and price trends in relation to gas and power
•Establish and maintain relationships with BP’s own traders and other utility traders / analysts to be in a position to access real time information
•Research and prepare briefing papers / presentations on the energy industry and Global markets
•Lead the process of preparing site RFP documents to be sent to potential Suppliers for the purchase of gas and electricity to meet the needs of our customers
•Actively participate in the analysis and negotiation of quotations for the purchase of gas and electricity. This includes building and using analytical models to value contracts and ensure they are structured in the best way to maximize value as required on behalf of customers, deliver contracts for signature and provide post contract support for a portfolio of customers
•Maintain utility supplier relationships
•Lead invoicing analysis for all of the major BP sites

Essential Education

Degree educated (ideally science-based subject)

Essential experience and job requirements
•Power market analysis experience
•Experience facilitating the purchase of energy
•Purchase negotiations experience
•Willing to consider driven and ambitious graduates with a passion for the energy industry (ideally with a science background)
