Job Title H.V.Equipment Engineer
Position Description
This position has been created within Saudi Aramco’s Power Systems Department to attract a highly technical and motivated professional who is fully conversant with electrical equipment in LV, MV and HV electricity networks. The successful candidate will drive innovation and influence equipment suppliers and contractors to develop and implement improvements to the design, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment. Knowledge in how the power system operates, good communication skills, understanding of international standards and familiarity with equipment from various suppliers combined with appreciation of safety and SA processes are key to this position holder.
Minimum Requirements
At least 10 years of knowledge and experience regarding how transmission and distribution power systems are designed, constructed, operated and maintained. Strong experience with power cable including medium and high voltage up to 230 KV levels .
Solid experience related to the following:
•Power cable system design and specifications with relevant design, installation, testing and commissioning of power cable systems.
•Power cable installation and arrangement methods in addition to required termination designs.
•Power cable manufacturing, factory acceptance testing and related standards.
•Sound experience with jointing procedures and technology.
•Power cable asset management strategies.
•Power cable condition assessment methods and latest technologies used.
•Power cable failure investigations.
•Cable fault locating technologies and ability to provide required technical consultations.
•Familiarity with different cable fault locating equipment and methods.
A Professional or Chartered Engineer with a relevant degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering and a member of an international engineering organization.
The ability to build and develop effective relationships with internal and external contacts, including good written and oral communications skills.
Experience gained in a range of operating units is desirable but not essential.
A sound track record of developing designs within a multidisciplinary team for the purposes of project management and execution.
Have solid experience related to the development of asset replacement policies within SA. Review existing and contribute to the development of new SA standards and technical specifications.
Implement compliance with SA and other international standards such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI and BS.
Lead and contribute to undertaking incident investigation tasks.
Represent SA on national and international technical committees and fora as required.
Demonstrate good design management experience, financial, commercial, strong interface working skills and the ability to prepare clear, comprehensive and concise engineering documentation.
Possess strong awareness of resource management, such as system access, safety, contractor and manufacturing capability.
Effective influencing skills and ability to apply this capability in a global matrix organization.
Good problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
Duties & Responsibilities
Review and challenge SA’s consultant and contractor designs and implement optimum and cost effective solutions.
Promote the introduction of appropriate new technology and techniques associated within area of expertise. Initiate specific R&D projects as appropriate and evaluate the risks associated with the introduction of new technologies into the SA power system.
Communicate complex issues associated with area of expertise in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and ensure that SA’s current and future requirements are clearly addressed and communicated.
